image

The International Safety Management (ISM) Code provides an international standard for the safe management and operation of ships and for pollution prevention.

The Study is intended to yield objective evidence, conclusions and proposed measures with a view to modernizing, streamlining and improving the effectiveness of the provisions in the relevant instruments and their implementation through safety management systems (SMS).

Seafarers have a key role in implementing the safety and environmental protection policy, in particular the SMS on board ships at sea. In this context, this questionnaire intends to collect seafarers’ views on the application of the ISM Code on board ships. Seafarers’ feedback will be instrumental for the understanding of the effectiveness and the level of implementation of the ISM Code.
